For more than 50 years, the Training Institute for Mental Health (TI), a 503(c)(3) nonprofit, has provided affordable, high-quality therapy services in New York City.
Our therapists are compassionate, caring, and expert at what they do. Our sliding scale fees are designed to fit people's budgets, not strain them. TI also hosts an acclaimed training program for mental health professionals in psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, group and couples therapy.
Highly respected in the field, TI is chartered by the Board of Regents of the University of the State of New York.
TI's counseling program, operating at The Sarah A. Meehan Center, has helped thousands of people over the years overcome issues such as low self-esteem, anger management, career difficulties, relationship conflicts, depression and anxiety.
We are currently not accepting new individual patients until July.
Couples and families may call our patient coordinator on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 212-627-8181.

The Training Institute for Mental Health offers training programs for professionals who wish to enhance their understanding and deepen their skill in individual psychoanalysis, couples therapy, group therapy, and the supervision of the psychoanalytic process.
Our training encompasses drive theory, object relations theory, ego psychology, self psychology, and relational psychology. We believe that every clinician has their own style and brings unique strengths to this work.
Our goal is not to mold a student into our version of an analyst, but to help each person find their own voice within this broad and ever-evolving field. Classes offer an in depth examination of psychoanalytic theories, which is combined with the clinical experiences of our students and faculty.
